Schools and Life Science Companies Collaborate: WBC Life Science Panel Shines Light on Collaboration

The CoLAB High School STEM Career Collaboration, an initiative that brings together local life science professionals and high school educators, took center stage at the fourth annual Watertown Business Coalition Life Science Panel on April 9. Organized by Watertown’s Merle Kummer and the group’s board, the collaboration aims to inspire student interest in STEM careers by building new levels of self-confidence in STEM subjects.

The panel, held at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, featured experts from Addgene and Acrivon Therapeutics, who shared their insights on the importance of collaboration between schools and businesses in fostering a love for science. A Watertown High School Junior also spoke about his experience of having a real scientist as a mentor, highlighting the impact that such partnerships can have on young minds.

The Watertown Business Coalition expressed its pride in this partnership, emphasizing its commitment to mentoring students and nurturing future scientists. The event was captured on video by Watertown Cable Access Television, giving those who couldn’t attend the opportunity to watch and learn more about this important collaboration between the school system and local businesses.
