Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, New York is set to become a division within the NYU Langone hospital system in the next year following the completion of their merger. The two healthcare organizations received approval from both state and federal authorities to affiliate in 2022, with NYU Langone becoming the active parent organization of the 306-bed medical center. The announcement of the affiliation plan was made in the summer of 2021.
As part of the affiliation plan, Long Island Community Hospital underwent a name change and became a division within the NYU Langone hospital system. This move will integrate the hospital into the larger NYU Langone network, providing enhanced healthcare services to the community. A spokesperson for NYU Langone Health mentioned to Becker’s that while Long Island Community Hospital remains a separate corporation, its affiliation with NYU Langone will allow it to access the resources of the larger system. The full merger is expected to take place in approximately one year.
