Miba, a leading industrial company based in Upper Austria, has experienced significant growth in the past year. The company’s sales increased by 8.1 percent to 1.205 billion euros, with 60 percent of the revenue coming from the industrial goods sector and 40 percent from the automotive business. Despite this success, Miba has not disclosed its profitability for several years.
Miba has been particularly successful in the wind energy sector, where sales have tripled over the past two years due to innovative solutions like plain bearings for gears and friction pads for brakes. These components are installed in wind towers that can generate electricity for 80,000 households each. In addition, Miba’s e-mobility sales have also tripled over the past two years, driven by demand for battery systems and pulse inverters.
CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer remains optimistic about Miba’s future despite fluctuations in the electric car market. The company plans to expand its operations globally by investing in production facilities in Mexico, China, and Austria. Miba is also committed to research and development and registered almost half of its 48 new patents and utility models last year from the e-mobility sector alone.
Despite challenges such as rising labor costs and concerns about Austria’s competitiveness as a manufacturing location, Miba remains committed to maintaining its global presence. The company employs over 7,600 people across Europe, Asia, North America, with nearly 3,000 workers based in Austria alone. With plans for further growth and investment in the coming years, Miba continues to be a major player in the world of technology production.
