UK News: Crew member goes missing at sea during round-the-world cruise

A crew member on a 120-day voyage around the world is missing at sea. The crew member went missing from Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambience ship, which was on its final journey from Lisbon, Portugal back to the UK. The ship can carry 1,400 guests and had departed from Tilbury, Essex on January 6th.

The crew member, who was from India, was reported missing off Cape Finisterre, Spain shortly after breakfast. The ship initially turned back to search for the crew member but has since been released by coastguard authorities from the search and is continuing on its original course back to the UK.

Ambassador Cruise Line, headquartered in Purfleet, Essex, operates the Ambience ship as its flagship boat. The ship has 789 cabins and has stops at various countries on its Grand Round The World Cruise voyage, including New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and Brazil. The ship was due to return to the UK on Sunday morning but the arrival time has been delayed until the evening due to the incident. All events to mark its return have been cancelled, and the cruise line is providing full support to the crew members affected by the incident. Guests onboard have been kept informed of the developments
