Montgomery departs UH men’s basketball team to join Long Beach State

John Montgomery, the associate head coach for Hawaii men’s basketball team, has been appointed to the coaching staff of Chris Acker at Long Beach State. This news was confirmed by sources to Spectrum News. Montgomery, who has been with the team since 2015-16 and oversaw their defense and post players, will be reuniting with Acker whom he previously worked with as an assistant for two seasons in Manoa before joining Long Beach State.

According to The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Acker’s coaching staff includes Montgomery from Hawaii, Anthony Santos from Cal State Fullerton, Phillip Scott from Premier Prep/San Diego City, DOBO Ali Tavakol from San Diego State and Director of player relations Josh Calbert from Little Rock.
