Emplify Health merges with Bellin and Gundersen

Gundersen Health System and Bellin Health, two Wisconsin health systems that merged in 2022, announced on Tuesday a new name for their organization: Emplify Health. This new name reflects their commitment to empathy, which has been a core value of both health systems for over a century.

Dr. Scott Rathgaber, CEO of the merged health system, explained that the transition to the new name will not happen overnight but could take several years to complete. They will announce a detailed timeline in the coming months on when the new name will officially be implemented. However, Rathgaber emphasized that this is not an urgent or immediate change.

The Bellin Health Foundation and Gundersen Medical Foundation will retain their current names and operate separately from Emplify Health. This decision was made to ensure that donors know their contributions will directly benefit the communities where they live and work. The transition to the new name will not impact patients who will still be able to see their regular providers at the same locations as before.

Bellin, located in Green Bay, and Gundersen, based in La Crosse, collectively operate 11 hospitals across Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan employing around 15,000 people.

Rathgaber stated that Emplify Health’s mission is to amplify empathy by providing compassionate care and exceptional experiences for patients and their families across all its facilities. He added that they are excited about this new chapter in their journey as a health system and look forward to continuing to serve the communities they love with empathy and excellence.

In conclusion, Emplify Health’s name change reflects its commitment to empathy while ensuring donors know their contributions will benefit the communities where they live and work. The transition process may take several years but is not an urgent or immediate change. The merged health system aims to continue providing compassionate care and exceptional experiences for patients across its facilities while fulfilling its mission of amplifying empathy.
