Matthew Robinson, the writer of The Invention of Lying, has penned a new sci-fi horror film titled 11817. Directed and produced by Louis Leterrier, the film is set to be presented at Cannes by Rocket Science. The plot follows a family of four who find themselves trapped inside their house indefinitely. As resources dwindle and the family faces life-or-death situations, they must become resourceful to outsmart whatever force is keeping them captive.
The production team includes producers from Carrousel Studios, Thank You Studios, Chernin Entertainment (A North Road Company), and 3 Arts Entertainment. Rocket Science will handle foreign sales and fully finance the project, with CAA Media Finance representing domestic rights. Casting is currently in progress for the film.
Leterrier is known for directing big-budget films like Fast X, Now You See Me, and The Incredible Hulk. He expressed his excitement about the unique concept of 11817 and the family-centered plot. He aims to create an unforgettable experience for movie audiences by portraying characters they can relate to and support throughout their journey.
In addition to his work in films, Leterrier has also produced and directed successful TV shows like Netflix’s Lupin and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. His upcoming projects include the final film in the Fast & Furious franchise, which is currently in development. Rocket Science’s Cannes slate for this year includes other highly anticipated films like Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice and Cliffhanger.
