Pant, Dube, and Samson included in India’s T20 World Cup squad

The Indian cricket team has announced its 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, led by Rohit Sharma. The squad includes new additions Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson. Yuzvendra Chahal has also made a comeback in the squad after not being part of India’s recent T20 international squads.

Chahal’s inclusion in the squad is based on his impressive form in the IPL. He joins other spin options such as Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. The pace attack includes specialists like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh, with Hardik and Dube providing seam-bowling options.

Rohit and Virat Kohli did not play any T20 internationals after the 2022 T20 World Cup until they were selected for the series at home against Afghanistan in January 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been chosen as Rohit’s opening partner, while Shubman Gill is among the four reserve players along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.

The Indian team will kick off their campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5 in New York, followed by matches against Pakistan, USA, and Canada. The squad for the tournament includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson
