The annual maintenance of Olkiluoto 3 has been extended by an additional four days, as reported by Power of Industry (TWO). This news comes after the start-up of Olkiluoto 3 was once again delayed. The reason for the extension is further research needed on the turbine-generator, according to TVO. The maintenance is now expected to be completed on May 14.
Despite the delay in maintenance for Olkiluoto 3, TVO stated that the annual maintenance of Olkiluoto 2 would end on Thursday and preparations for its start-up were already in progress. Both plants have experienced longer-than-planned maintenance schedules, impacting the start-up schedule of Olkiluoto 3, which has been revised multiple times. This delay in annual maintenance has had an effect on electricity prices on the exchange in recent weeks, with the original end date for Olkiluoto 3’s maintenance being April 8 and Olkiluoto 2’s maintenance ending on May 6.
