Ontario, Canada Leads the Way in Sustainable Battery Recycling with Cutting-Edge Technology from EDI and Call2Recycle Canada

Call2Recycle Canada has joined forces with Electronic Distributors International Inc (EDI) to introduce a new battery sorting technology that will significantly boost Ontario, Canada’s capacity to sort and recycle end-of-life batteries. This investment is in line with the company’s goal of enhancing battery recycling infrastructure, improving efficiency, ensuring safety, and promoting waste diversion initiatives in the region. The cutting-edge battery sorting equipment is located at EDI’s facility in Orillia, Ontario, and is one of only four of its kind globally. This new technology will double the plant’s capability to sort used batteries effectively.

The partnership between Call2Recycle Canada and EDI signifies a significant milestone in advancing sustainable battery recycling practices in Ontario and setting a precedent for innovative waste management solutions across North America. “We are committed to modernizing the recycling industry and investing in sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our partners,” said Norm Yorke, Managing Partner at EDI. He emphasized the importance of pioneering technology-driven battery sorting in North America to promote responsible recycling practices.

Joe Zenobio, President of Call2Recycle Canada, commended EDI for its innovative approach to driving positive change in the recycling sector. He highlighted the significance of collaborations with forward-thinking organizations like EDI. “Advancements like this not only contribute to enhancing Ontario’s battery recycling infrastructure but also boost efficiency, support larger battery collection volumes, reduce environmental impact, and stimulate the local economy,” said Zenobio.

Overall, this partnership represents a pivotal step forward in advancing sustainable battery recycling practices in Ontario and setting a precedent for innovative waste management solutions across North America.
