Marcus Pettersson, defensemen for the Penguins, to represent Sweden in the IIHF World Championship

Marcus Pettersson of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been selected to represent Sweden in the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament in May. The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation announced the addition of Pettersson and Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky on Tuesday. The tournament will take place in Czechia from May 10-26.

At 27 years old, Pettersson has previously competed in international competitions for Sweden, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he achieved career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game while playing all 82 games for the Penguins.
