Nick Lahm, Director of Operations at Piedmontese beef brand, revealed that their Lincoln warehouse was impacted by one of the tornadoes that hit the area on Friday. The warehouse sustained damages, including blown-out windows and affected common areas like the kitchen. Fortunately, all workers had been moved to a brick office building for safety beforehand.
Lahm witnessed the tornado from a safe distance as it picked up vehicles and caused damage to the warehouse. Despite their readiness, the proximity of the tornado to their location was unexpected. The priority for Lahm and his team was ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being, following tornado protocol provided some guidance but facing the storm firsthand was still daunting.
During the storm, one driver was out on routes but managed to return home safely. The warehouse lost power temporarily, prompting workers to relocate inventory to a refrigerated area until power was restored by Lincoln Electric Systems. Contractors and USDA must confirm the facility’s safety before workers can fully resume their duties.
The aftermath of the tornado has been challenging for Piedmontese, but they are determined to restore operations and continue serving their customers. Subscribe to 10/11 NOW for daily news updates and alerts delivered directly to your inbox. Copyright 2024 KOLN All rights reserved
