Clark County Business Owners Express Concern about Ongoing Safety Concerns Following Recent Fire Incident

On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in the electrical panel of a strip mall off Tropicana and Pecos in Clark County, causing seven businesses to temporarily shut down. The cause of the fire is believed to be linked to homeless individuals near the utility boxes. Several shops have been left without power completely or partially since the incident, leaving business owners worried about their livelihoods.

Jonny Galvez, the owner of Familia Tattoo, expressed his concern about providing for his family while his business remains closed. Joey Scolaro, owner of Lucino’s Pizza, had to discard a significant amount of food due to the power outage. Both owners feel uncomfortable in the unsafe structures, with no clear solution in sight.

Galvez and his wife have faced troubling encounters since opening their shop last year, including security issues and safety concerns. They have raised these issues with Colliers Property Management, which manages the shopping center, but have not seen improvement in security measures. Scolaro shared his frustration about the lack of action taken to address security concerns at the strip mall despite repeated requests from business owners.

The hope for a successful business has been overshadowed by recurring issues like this one, leaving both Galvez and Scolaro worried about the future of their establishments. Channel 13 reached out to Colliers Property Management for a response but has not yet received a reply.
