Nantucket’s community and economy are at risk, and it is up to residents to take action. I, as a concerned citizen deeply involved in the island’s community and economy, urge all residents to join me in voting YES on Article 59 at the upcoming Town Meeting on May 7.

From my own experiences owning multiple short-term rentals and an architectural firm on the island, I have seen firsthand how important they are for many families who rely on them financially. Short-term rentals not only support local businesses but also sustain island-based contractors and service providers, contributing to the economic well-being of our residents.
However, there are those who seek to restrict property owner rights, which could jeopardize the livelihoods of many families and the very essence of our community. It is essential that we come together in unwavering support of Article 59 to protect the cornerstone of our island’s economy and ensure financial stability for our residents.
Tourism has been a vital lifeline for Nantucket for nearly two centuries, sustaining us through times of economic change.
