The coastal region of northeastern North Carolina is the focus of “Science on the Sound,” a monthly lecture series hosted by the Coastal Studies Institute at ECU Outer Banks Campus in Wanchese. This series brings together experts from across the state to share their insights on pressing coastal issues.
On May 23 at 6 p.m., Dr. Alex Hodges, a clinical professor in the Department of Advanced Nursing Practice and Education at ECU, will present on the potential risks and hazards associated with climate change. Her talk, titled “Ready for Change: Building Effective Climate Readiness,” will provide a nurse practitioner’s perspective on this critical issue and its implications for primary care.
Dr. Hodges has worked extensively with organizations such as Americares and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, focusing her research on the climate impacts within Eastern North Carolina. She also volunteers at the Community Care Clinic of Dare, providing primary care services, and serves on the Dare County Board of Health and Human Services.
This event is open to the public and will be live-streamed on the CSI YouTube channel, making it accessible to those who cannot attend in person.
