In a thrilling softball game at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, Angelina DeLeon and Lexie Brady led the Rebels to a 7-3 victory over Southern Miss. Brady hit her team-leading 13th home run of the season, which was the third most by a player in a single season in program history. Meanwhile, DeLeon had a two-hit night and also hit her second home run of the season.
The game began with Southern Miss scoring first, but Ole Miss quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead. However, Southern Miss tied things up in the second inning. That’s when Grace Sparks came into the game and pitched effectively to keep things even.
Ole Miss then broke the tie in the fourth inning with two more runs, thanks to hits from DeLeon and Ryan Starr. Lassiter delivered a two-run single to put Ole Miss ahead 5-3. The Rebels continued their offensive attack, with DeLeon hitting a two-run home run in the sixth inning to make it 7-3. Lopez then closed out the game with a strong seventh inning to secure the victory for Ole Miss.
The Rebels will now play Auburn on April 26-28 for Senior Weekend. For more information on Ole Miss softball, visit OleMissSports.com and follow the team on social media.
