Google uses AI to generate personalized travel itineraries for users

Google has recently introduced a new feature called Search Generative Experience (SGE) that allows users to create itineraries and plan trips using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Initially available in the United States and Japan, this experimental feature offers overviews and additional links at the top of search results to show multiple perspectives on search queries. Recently, SGE has expanded to Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, and other countries with support for additional languages like Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian.

The company has also announced new capabilities related to this experience. For example, in the United States, users can now automatically create travel itineraries that include suggestions for activities, restaurants as well as flight and hotel options. These itineraries come with reviews, links and photographs provided by other Google users. Users can explore these suggestions and choose what they want to include in their trip plans.

To use these features, users need to register with Search Labs and enable SGE. The generative AI can also be used to personalize lists of tourist places
