Saints release Kellen Mond and Tommy Kraemer

New Orleans Saints have announced that quarterback Kellen Mond and offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer have been waived from the team, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report. The Saints did not make any additional roster moves at this time but may do so in the near future as they prepare for their rookie minicamp this weekend.

Kraemer had played four games with the Saints last season, and also made nine appearances with the Detroit Lions in 2021. Meanwhile, Mond signed with the Saints in mid-April but his departure was anticipated after they drafted Spencer Rattler in the fifth round. With five quarterbacks on the roster already, including Derek Carr, the team has decided to move forward with Rattler, Jake Haener and Nathan Peterman behind him.

The moves signal that there is a shifting roster for the Saints as they prepare to make room for new additions and evaluate their options heading into the upcoming season. With rookie minicamp just around the corner, the team is focused on building a competitive squad for what lies ahead.
