Lyle Trachtman, owner of Seabreeze Fine Jewelry, credits the successful capture of the suspect to the officers assigned to the Seabreeze substation. He believes that these measures have contributed to improved safety in the area. The shooting was carried out by Misael Maldonado during a fight and resulted in four individuals being wounded. Fortunately, they are all expected to recover.
Police Chief Jakari Young attributes the successful capture of Maldonado to his officers’ hard work and dedication to improving public safety in the area. Despite this incident, Chief Young remains committed to continuing his efforts to enhance security measures in the Seabreeze district. After previous instances of violence, including fatal stabbings in 2022 and a shooting outside a nightclub last summer, residents and business owners have advocated for increased security measures.
In response to these concerns, the city has invested heavily in enhancing safety in the Seabreeze district. Surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the area, along with additional street lighting, and a police substation has been established on Grandview Avenue near Seabreeze Blvd. Trachtman notes that this recent shooting is only one example of how effective these measures have been since then substation opened its doors last year.
