U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hardy County Health Department in Moorefield, which was funded by Capito in 2023. The project aims to provide medical services, expand food service options and educational opportunities to the growing community of Hardy County.
Capito highlighted that Hardy County is a rapidly expanding area in West Virginia and expressed pride in supporting this initiative. She emphasized that the collaborative effort between federal, state and local levels has made this project possible and anticipated its positive impact on the region.
Mallie Combs, Executive Director of the Hardy County Rural Development Authority, commended Capito for her continuous support and understanding of community needs. She expressed appreciation for Senator Capito’s presence at the groundbreaking ceremony and acknowledged their fruitful partnership that has contributed to the development of Hardy County.
In May 2023, Senator Capito secured a $474,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Grant Program to contribute to the construction of the new health facility in Moorefield. This funding will play a crucial role in bringing the project to fruition and improving overall healthcare services and educational opportunities available in Hardy County.
