UConn’s Unstoppable Inning Secures Shutdown Win over K-State in 4-0 Decision

On Tuesday night, UConn shut out K-State 4-0 at Elliot Ballpark. The Huskies needed just a two-run third inning to secure the win. K-State head coach Pete Hughes commented on the team’s struggles in building an inning and putting pressure on UConn’s offense.

UConn executed the necessary matchups and made crucial plays to secure the victory. Andrew Evans took the loss after giving up two runs in the third inning, while Ty Ruhl had a solid outing in relief. Ruhl struck out two and held the Huskies scoreless in his first appearance since February.

K-State was held to just two hits by UConn’s Joe Cinnella, who got the win in relief. Despite some offensive opportunities, the Wildcats couldn’t capitalize and UConn extended their lead over the final three innings. The Wildcats dropped their fourth consecutive game and were shut out for the first time in a while.

Five different Wildcats recorded hits in the game, including an extra-base hit from Jaden Parsons. UConn capitalized on four extra-base hits to secure the win, with Paul Tammaro, Korey Morton, and Matt Garbowski each driving in a run. The Wildcats were set to play Northeastern and return home for a series against Oklahoma State later in the week.
