The Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024 saw a change in the winner, with Doha’s Hamad International airport being edged out of the top spot by its Middle Eastern rival, Singapore Changi. This year, Seoul Incheon came in third place and also won the title of 2024’s most family-friendly airport. Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports claimed the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Hong Kong airport made a significant jump, rising 22 positions to 11th place as passenger numbers increased following the Covid-19 pandemic. European airports continued to perform well, with Paris Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Zurich, and Istanbul maintaining their positions in the top 10.
Notable movements in the rankings included New York’s JFK falling to 93rd place and LaGuardia rising to 33rd. Melbourne remained the top-ranked Australian airport at 19th place while London Heathrow moved up one spot to 21st and Gatwick climbed seven spots to 48th. Japan’s Okinawa made the most significant leap in rankings, going from 199th to 91st position.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Al Meer expressed gratitude for being voted the Best Airport in the World for a third time as Hamad International Airport celebrated its 10th year of operations. The list of the world’s best airports of 2024 includes Doha Hamad, Singapore Changi, Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Paris CDG, Dubai
