Commentator at World Snooker Championship delights Crucible audience with comedic interruption by intruder

During the tense final session of the World Snooker Championship, former world champion Ken Doherty entertained the Crucible audience with a playful jab at his co-commentator Dennis Taylor. Despite being in a commanding 10-7 lead over Jak Jones, Jones had been playing catch up since the opening session. However, Jones managed to pick up the first frame of the afternoon session, moving within just four frames of Wilson.

In the 19th frame, Wilson’s shot was interrupted by an intruder on the table, causing Jones to pause and notice the bug. This moment prompted Doherty’s cheeky comment about Taylor’s wallet. The audience, wearing earpieces for commentary, burst into laughter at the exchange. Despite being distracted by this intruder on the table, Jones regained focus and won that frame.

Taylor acknowledged retiring referee Paul Collier during this session, praising his contributions to snooker. Unfortunately for Jones, he missed an opportunity with a straight red shot and ended up in a safety exchange that scattered red balls around the table. Eventually, though, Jones managed to regain control of that frame with a tricky shot and closed the gap between himself and Wilson down to just three frames. This narrow escape earned him applause from the Crucible audience.

Overall, it was a tense final session with many twists and turns in store for fans watching live at home or at Wembley Arena.
