According to a recent poll conducted by ABC News/Ipsos, Americans are more trusting of former President Trump than of President Biden when it comes to the economy and inflation. The survey revealed that these two issues were top concerns for voters in the upcoming presidential election, with a majority expressing their trust in Trump over Biden.
In terms of the economy, 46% of respondents said they trusted Trump, compared to 32% who trusted Biden. Additionally, 44% said they trusted Trump to handle inflation, while only 30% expressed the same trust in Biden. A significant portion of respondents (25%) stated that they did not trust either candidate on the issue of inflation.
The survey also looked at the financial situation of respondents since Biden took office. 43% reported being worse off financially, while 40% said they were about the same and 16% reported being better off. When asked about a hypothetical scenario where Biden and Trump would go head-to-head in an election, Trump had 46% support among all adults surveyed, while Biden had 44%. However, among registered voters, Biden led with 46% support over Trump’s 45%. Among likely voters, Biden received 49% support compared to Trump’s 45%.
The ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted online among 2,260 adults from April 25-30 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus two percentage points.
