Greta Thunberg, Activist, Sentenced for Third Time for Civil Disobedience

Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg has once again found herself in the headlines, this time for being fined by a Stockholm court for two counts of disobedience. The 21-year-old sat in front of Parliament with a group of other protesters on March 12 and two days later as part of her climate change protests. Despite being asked to leave by the police, Thunberg and her fellow activists refused to budge, leading to their forcible removal.

Thunberg pleaded not guilty to the charges, stating that the situation was an emergency that required immediate action from everyone. This is not the first time she has been convicted in Sweden for these same charges, having faced similar charges since last year. During her trial, Thunberg emphasized the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for everyone to take action.
