Apartment building destroyed by arsonist’s major fire

A major fire broke out in an apartment building in Techentin, leaving all 13 residents homeless. The blaze started late on Wednesday evening at a house on “Am Umspannwerk” street, with the roof structure ablaze around 9:30 p.m. It is suspected to be a serious case of arson, and the police are currently investigating.

Fortunately, all 13 tenants managed to escape unharmed thanks to the efforts of rescue workers. Firefighters from surrounding volunteer fire departments, totaling 75 comrades with 15 vehicles, were on the scene to combat the significant fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but authorities estimate the material damage to be around 800,000 euros.

This incident marks just one of many fires that have occurred in Techentin and nearby Ludwigslust in recent years. Just a few days earlier, there was another fire at the training ground of the Techentin Fire Department. The authorities suspect arson in these cases due to lack of other explanations and ruled out technical defects.

As a result of this tragedy, the community of Techentin now faces the challenge of rebuilding and supporting displaced residents as they search for new homes. The police are continuing their investigations into these incidents as they work to determine what caused them and prevent future fires from occurring.
