U.S. News and World Report released its 2024 “Best High Schools” ranking on Tuesday, with several San Diego-area schools making it onto the list. Canyon Crest Academy in the San Dieguito Union High School District was the highest ranked school in the area, coming in at No. 15 in California and No. 140 nationwide. Close behind were The Preuss School UCSD and Del Norte High School, which ranked at No. 2 and No. 3 in the county, respectively.

The complete list of the top 10 public high schools in San Diego includes Westview High School, Mt. Everest Academy, Scripps Ranch High School, La Jolla High School, Sage Creek High School, River Valley Charter, and Del Lago Academy – Campus of Applied Science. U.S. News and World Report partners with a nonprofit research firm, RTI International, to rank nearly 25,000 high schools across the country based on factors like graduation rates, standardized testing outcomes, and performance on college-level exams. The rankings are determined by weighted scores in these categories, with ranks assigned based on an overall score
