On Tuesday, Tyner Academy students were given the chance to showcase their creations that were developed through machine learning. These “Friendship Detectors” were created by 12 students at EPB’s Future Ready Institute of Technology and Networking at Tyner Academy.
EPB’s J. Ed Marston was present at the event and emphasized the importance of developing new technology that can contribute to Chattanooga’s economy while also ensuring there is a skilled workforce available to take on these jobs. He also highlighted the need to nurture both young and older individuals with necessary technology skills for future job opportunities in the quantum industry.
Marston stressed that education plays a crucial role in preparing students for real-world scenarios in the ever-evolving technology industry. By providing hands-on experience like this showcase, students are able to apply their knowledge of machine learning and other tech-related skills in practical ways. This helps prepare them for future job opportunities in the quantum industry, where technology skills are increasingly important.
The EPB has been a sponsor and participant in Tyner Academy’s curriculum, with its main goal being to bridge the connection between technological development and economic growth. The focus is on helping children develop essential technology skills that will prepare them for jobs in the quantum industry, which is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years.
Overall, this event showcased how machine learning technology can be used creatively by students, and how it can help them acquire valuable skills that will benefit them in their future careers.
