Two young boys made a remarkable discovery in Germany when they found the bones of a prehistoric elephant underground. Deinotherium had long tusks and teeth suited for eating forest foods such as leaves and shoots. However, it did not adapt to changing climates during the ice ages and went extinct without leaving descendants.
