The City of Dallas Small Business Center is proud to announce the launch of its Mentor Protégé Program (MPP) on May 2, 2024. This program aims to support the growth of local Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (M/WBE) by fostering partnerships and enhancing the success of small businesses in the Dallas, TX area.
The MPP will offer one-on-one mentoring, workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities for participants. The program will involve financial stable Mentors, including Prime Contractors with contracts in the City of Dallas, who have been in business for 1-3 years and are willing to provide guidance. On the other hand, Emerging Protégé Businesses will consist of M/WBE certified small business owners looking to enhance their financial capacity to secure contracting opportunities.
Interested parties can find applications for the next cohort at the Small Business Mentor Protégé Program – Source Dallas website. The Director of the Small Business Center, Joyce Williams, emphasized the importance of collaboration between seasoned businesses (mentors) and smaller enterprises (protégés) to help them excel as prime contractors or subcontractors in various contracting opportunities. The City of Dallas Small Business Center encourages eligible businesses to apply for the MPP.
Established in December 2021, the City of Dallas Small Business Center combines the City’s business diversity, workforce development, and entrepreneurship programs to offer support activities that champion the growth and development needs of small businesses. Additionally, the center provides workforce readiness and re-entry services for residents in the Dallas area.
