Unleashing their Dreams: Five High School Athletes Sign Letters of Intent for College Sports

On Tuesday, five talented athletes from A.J. Ellender Memorial High School gathered in the school’s cafeteria to sign their letters of intent to play college sports. Football players Andre Stewart and Southern LeBeouf were the first to commit, both signing with McDougle Technical Institute, a junior college in Florida.

LeBeouf expressed his deepest gratitude for the opportunity to continue playing football and further his academic career. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication it took to get to this point and felt blessed for the chance to pursue his dreams. Stewart also shared his appreciation for the chance to play at the college level, attributing his success to a higher power.

Following them were volleyball players Bryana Young and Nigeria Williams, who both signed with Southern University at New Orleans. Both women expressed their excitement and satisfaction in achieving this milestone for themselves and their families. Young thanked everyone who supported her journey and Williams shared her eagerness to advance her career through this opportunity.

Lastly, Laijah Rockward signed with Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, where she will have the chance to play both basketball and volleyball at the college level. Rockward was grateful for the opportunity to continue playing both sports in college and acknowledged that it will be a challenge but believed she is ready and equipped to face it.

The ceremony showcased the accomplishments and bright futures of these talented student-athletes as they take the next step in their athletic and academic journeys.
