UNM Anderson School of Sales Students Shine in World’s Largest Sales Competition, Achieving Top Places

The UNM Anderson School of Sales students recently excelled in the virtual RNMRKS international role-play sales competition held on April 10-11. Eddie Acosta, Andrew Salazar, and AJ Dille achieved second, fourth, and fifth place, respectively. This competition is considered the largest sales competition in the world, with over 1,000 students from 47 universities participating. The scoring system awards points, with a perfect score being 10,000. Acosta received 9,589; Salazar received 9,571; Dille received 9,542.

The success of the students was highlighted by Associate Professor Dimitri Kapelianis, director of the UNM Sales and Business Development Center. He expressed pride in their performance and emphasized the consistent success of Anderson sales students in the competition. He also emphasized the talent and dedication present within the program.

The competition provides participants with valuable experience in the core selling steps: introduction, discovery, presentation, objections and concerns, and closing. Leading up to the competition, students engage in dynamic simulations through the RNMKRS app. The app directly impacts their success as they completed a total of 400 simulations to hone their skills.

Acosta attributed his success to active preparation and continuous improvement through practice. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase his abilities and thanked his professors for their support and guidance in mastering key sales concepts. The RNMKRS app features an artificially intelligent customer bot named Alex Taylor who guides students through key concepts and provides immediate feedback.
