Upstate high school boys athlete of the week for April 29-May 5 have been announced, and this week’s winners are sure to impress. Carson Boleman from Southside Christian pitched a complete game in a baseball playoff win against Lewisville, striking out 17 batters and leading his team to victory. Wilfer Bustamante from J.L. Mann scored two goals in a soccer victory over Clover, helping his team advance to the Upper State semifinals.
Chansen Cole of Boiling Springs also had an impressive performance, pitching a shutout with only four hits allowed and striking out seven batters. He also scored the winning run in a 1-0 win against Woodmont. Erik Erlenkeuser from T.L. Hanna shot an impressive 68 for medalist honors in the Region 1-AAAAA golf tournament.
States Farr from Spartanburg homered, drove in three runs, scored two runs, and had two walks in a baseball game against Rock Hill, leading his team to victory with a final score of 7-1. Liam Montes from St. Joseph’s scored four goals in an soccer win against Bamberg-Ehrhardt, helping his team lead by four goals at halftime before eventually winning with a final score of 8-0. Brody Pike from Powdersville also had an impressive performance on the soccer field, scoring eight goals and having three assists in three wins against Wade Hampton High School and Eastside High School on Tuesday night and Friday afternoon respectively.

Will Ruth from Dorman shot a great round at Southern Cross Junior Invitational golf tournament with a total of 142 that earned him medalist honors.
Mitch Wilson from Dorman hit back-to-back home runs leading his team to victory against Blythewood and Hillcrest with five RBIs each game.
