Vietnam aims to establish itself as a leading center for semiconductor talent worldwide.

Vietnam is quickly becoming a global hub for the human resources in the semiconductor chip value chain. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung both emphasized the importance of highly skilled labor in driving competitiveness and innovation in the industry.

Phenikaa Group, Phenikaa University, and Synopsys Corporation have collaborated to organize a conference titled “Vietnam’s Semiconductor Human Resources in the Global Supply Chain” on May 4th. At this conference, they discussed the need for training programs that would meet the demands for skilled workers in the semiconductor industry.

Currently, Vietnam has a workforce of around 600,000 to 700,000 information technology, software, and electronics engineers who can be retrained for jobs in the semiconductor industry within 6-12 months. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung highlighted the importance of collaboration between businesses, universities, and government agencies to enhance training facilities and resources to meet industry demands.

Phenikaa Group and Phenikaa University are actively involved in training microchip human resources in Vietnam with plans to train thousands of engineers and technicians by 2030. The government is also focusing on developing a Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and Human Resource Training Project that will foster innovation and production in this field while meeting international standards.

Overall, there is a strong emphasis on developing skilled human resources to drive innovation and competitiveness in the global market as Vietnam sees itself as an important sector for its economic growth. Collaboration between businesses, universities, and government agencies is essential to building a strong foundation for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
