As the winter sports season winds down, it is a good time to take a look back at the standout athletes who have shone throughout the season. Milan bowler Maggie Smith has been named Athlete of the Week twice, winning the most votes for Jan. 8-14 and Feb. 19-25.
Meanwhile, Monroe girls basketball player Zoe Leach had the highest total of votes from Dec. 4-10 with 850, while Erie Mason girls basketball player Makenna Gallaher came in second with 676 from Dec. 25-31. Monroe girls basketball player Hayven Neddo was third with 646 votes from Jan. 29-Feb. 4.
Tyler Dafoe was named Athlete of the Week for Summerfield boys basketball, while Zennon Grant won this title for New Boston Huron boys basketball and Bailey Meiring for Erie Mason girls basketball were also standouts throughout the winter season.
