Wolt, a leading courier service company, is currently undergoing negotiations to streamline its organizational structure. The company operates in 27 countries and has over 10,000 employees. While Wolt did not grant an interview to HS, they confirmed via email that discussions are ongoing, which may impact the employment relationships of a small group of workers.
Wolt’s Finnish communications director, Jenni Jusslin, explained that the purpose of these negotiations is to ensure operational efficiency. This may involve centralizing some personnel from country teams into global teams or bringing functions closer to the headquarters in Helsinki.
Since 2022, Wolt has been part of American company Doordash, which is the largest food delivery company in the United States. However, Doordash’s stock price experienced a more than 13 percent decrease on Wall Street due to weakened consumer demand affecting sales at the beginning of the year. The outcome was lower than expected, leading to the need for change negotiations within Wolt.
Despite these challenges, Wolt remains committed to its operations and continues to expand its reach across various countries. The potential changes being discussed are aimed at improving the company’s organizational structure and ensuring its long-term success in the competitive food delivery industry. With its headquarters in Helsinki, Wolt is focused on adapting to market demands and evolving its strategies to meet the needs of customers and employees alike.
