In recent competitions, swim teams from Woodbridge High School have made a big impact at the Spring Meet of Champions at Mt. SAC in Walnut. The girls team claimed the first-place title, while the boys team took third in their divisions. Coach James Hickson commended the combined efforts of both teams, leading to an overall victory for Woodbridge High. Zara Masud, a senior on the girls team, stood out for her exceptional performance in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, earning her the title of Swimmer of the Meet.
Meanwhile, over at Irvine High School, Cozy Zimmerman has committed to playing beach volleyball for Concordia University Irvine. With a successful seven-year indoor volleyball career that included helping her team secure a Pacific Coast League crown, Cozy transitioned to beach volleyball three years ago and is now part of Irvine’s inaugural team. Her mother, Holiday, coaches both Irvine High’s beach volleyball team and Cozy’s college team.
Northwood High School’s baseball team is also doing well this season in the Pacific Coast League with a streak of 12 wins out of 16 league games. Their success can be attributed to outstanding starting pitching from players like Paul Grossman and Casey Euper, timely hitting from junior Carter Liu, and solid defense. Both Grossman and Euper have made commitments to prestigious universities, signaling a promising future for the team as they continue their journey through the CIF playoffs. With high hopes for a title win, Grossman believes they have a good shot if they maintain their current level of play.
