The upcoming Prefontaine Classic in Eugene will be graced by the presence of world champions Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman. Richardson, who won the World Championships in Budapest with a time of 10.65 last year, will face tough competition from athletes such as Julien Alfred from St Lucia and Marie-Josee Ta Lou from Ivory Coast. On the men’s side, Coleman will be joined by African record-holder Ferdinand Omanyala and world indoor 60m bronze medallist Ackeem Blake.
The men’s 200m event is also set to be a highlight at the Prefontaine Classic, with Erriyon Knighton, Letsile Tebogo, and Kenny Bednarek set to compete. Knighton has a personal best of 19.49 and won silver at last year’s World Championships. Tebogo, from Botswana, has had an impressive career so far, winning world U20 titles and claiming silver and bronze at the World Championships in Budapest. Bednarek is known for his versatility in sprinting events and earned Olympic silver in 2021 and world silver in 2022.
Fans can expect to see some thrilling races and impressive performances from these world-class sprinters at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Eugene.
