In the consolation game of the National Christian School basketball tournament, Chautauqua Christian Academy’s Defenders made a remarkable comeback from a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation. The team’s resilience was on full display as Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn scored crucial baskets to force overtime. The Defenders maintained their momentum during overtime and emerged victorious, leading Faith Christian of West Virginia 67-60.
The Defenders had an impressive overall performance in the tournament, finishing third in Division 5 after a loss to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals. Lynn’s 19 points, including three 3-pointers, played a key role in the victory. Junior Marcus Ryan stood out with an impressive 34-point performance, while Hunter Edwards contributed 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson excelled on defense throughout the season. Both Ryan and Lynn earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their standout performances.
