Amarillo City Council Greenlights Development Agreements for Kids Inc Sports Complex

The construction of the Kids Inc sports complex in south Amarillo is set to begin following the recent approval of three development agreements by the Amarillo City Council. These agreements aim to kickstart the construction process and provide infrastructure such as water, utilities, streets, and a parking lot.

The partners involved in this project include Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, which will contribute $7.5 million towards streets and utilities, and Attebury Elevators and Rockrose Development, who will invest $4.6 million in the same category. Additionally, Attebury and Rockrose will be responsible for building a $3 million parking lot as part of the development agreements.

This initiative represents a collaborative effort to enhance sports and recreational opportunities in the Amarillo community. With the support of the partners and the city council’s approval, construction is expected to move forward smoothly. As tax collections increase from development in a designated zone at the intersection of Loop 335 and I-27, the partners will be reimbursed over time for their contributions. Copyright 2024 KFDA.
