On Sunday afternoon in the French city of Sevran, located on the outskirts of Paris, two men were shot to death in what appears to be a settling of accounts between rival drug trafficking gangs. This incident occurred just days after another shooting on Friday night that left one dead and four injured in the Beaudottes neighborhood. The victims had a history of involvement in the drug trade and violence.
The mayor of Sevran, Stéphane Blanchet, stated that such violence is not a random occurrence and attributed it to drug trafficking and dirty drug money. Settling of accounts between criminal groups has been on the rise in France, with 85 recorded deaths last year, a 20% increase compared to the previous year. French law enforcement has conducted anti-drug operations across the country, including the dismantling of a well-known trading place in Sevran’s Rougemont neighborhood.
According to Actu 17, a specialized event information site, both men were fatally shot around 6:15 p.m. local time on Snowdrop street in the Basse neighborhood. The perpetrator fled the scene, leaving behind around twenty bullet casings. Authorities suspect that this incident is linked to drug trafficking as both victims had a history of involvement in the drug trade and violence.
