The Momentous Institute is launching a toolkit to assist families in navigating the mental health crisis, and will be hosting a free panel to raise awareness about the issue. Dr. Jessica Gomez, the Executive Director of the institute, emphasizes the importance of addressing mental health issues and reducing the stigma associated with it.
Despite increasing attention on mental health, access to services and educational opportunities remains a challenge. Dr. Gomez highlighted the prevalence rates of mental illness in the state and ranked it last among all states in terms of access to care. She underscored the need for more conversation around mental health and strategies to promote mental wellness.
To help families cope with these challenges, the Momentous Institute is launching a toolkit that includes resources for finding mental health services, information on coping strategies, and tips for promoting self-care. The institute is also hosting a free event on April 30th at 5:30 pm at Collin College Frisco Campus where attendees can win tickets to see players wear green ribbons in support of mental health awareness during the CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament. In place of their names, players and caddies will display ways they maintain their own mental wellness on their bibs.
