Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs arranges ‘air bridge’ from India to bring 6,000 construction workers

Over 23,000 Indians took the Israeli Building Contractors’ Association exams, and only about a thousand of those selected made it to Israel. An inter-ministerial commission began checking the causes of the situation and found that the main obstacle was the high cost of air tickets – $950 one way.

To address this issue, the Population and Migration Authority decided to organize partially subsidized charter flights to bring 6,000 workers to Israel in April-May.
