The staff of Camden County Health Department breaking ground on construction of new building

On a sunny afternoon in Kingsland, members of the Camden County Health Department gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony for their new health department building on April 15, 2024. The facility, which will be located on a freshly cleared plot of land, aims to improve accessibility and enhance health department operations by providing a modern structure that can house clinical and environmental health services in one location.

The event was attended by many key stakeholders, including representatives from the Coastal Health District, Camden Board of Health, Southeast Georgia Health System, the State, and the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine. The collaborative effort is expected to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The project cost for the new Camden County Health Department is over $5.38 million. Funding for the project has been provided through various sources such as Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII, Community Development Block Grant COVID (CDBG-CV), the Coastal Health District, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.
