The Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia has announced an agreement to purchase the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. The nonprofit hospital aims to expand its operations into Southeast Tennessee with this acquisition. The hospital in Cleveland, known as Tennova Healthcare Cleveland, consists of 351 beds, medical offices, and subsidiaries, all of which will be sold by Community Health Systems. Community Health Systems has been operating the Cleveland hospital under the Tennova name for nearly ten years.
Hamilton Health Care System’s CEO Jeff Myers expressed the organization’s commitment to keeping healthcare services local to the communities they serve. As a not-for-profit and one of the few remaining independent health systems in the area, their primary focus is on providing quality care to their patients. By expanding into Cleveland, they hope to enhance the range of care options available to residents in the region.
The sale of the hospital is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 pending regulatory approvals. According to an announcement made by Community Health Systems on Thursday, this acquisition will enable Hamilton Health Care System to continue its mission of improving healthcare access and services in Southeast Tennessee.
