In the seventh inning, McDonald made a dramatic comeback, but it was not enough to secure a victory as they fell just short, 8-7. The day before, McDonald had won at home on an eighth-inning error that allowed them to score.
In Girard, it was an old-fashioned barnburner when they hosted Lakeview on Tuesday. Despite facing tough situations, the Bulldogs managed to pull off a 7-6 victory over the visitors. Lakeview coach Cam Carson praised his team for their grit and determination in playing the game from start to finish.
Meanwhile, in Cleveland, José Ramírez homered in the eighth inning to help lead the Guardians to a 4-1 victory over the Red Sox. Tyler Freeman and Bryan Rocchio also contributed RBIs in the seventh inning as Cleveland continued their impressive start to the season.
In Pittsburgh, Andrew McCutchen hit a leadoff home run for the second straight game and Bailey Falter pitched a shutout into the eighth inning. The Pirates went on to defeat the Brewers 2-1.
In other baseball news, Belle O’Brien tossed a no-hitter and hit a home run while driving in four RBIs as McDonald shut out Mineral Ridge 21-0.
