Myra, who has been in a coma for the past 30 years, has recently formed a new friendship with her young neighbor, Ossie. Both of them are on a journey to find their place in the world. As they navigate through life, they have found solace in each other’s company and shared experiences.
As they explore their own unique paths, Myra and Ossie have also found inspiration in the work of Denver artist R. Alan Brooks. Brooks teaches graphic novel writing for Regis University’s MFA program and Lighthouse Writers Workshop, where he is also a board member. His graphic novels “The Burning Metronome” and “Anguish Garden” feature diverse characters and storylines that have resonated with readers across the country.
Cori Redford, who was born in Hawaii and has lived in various places before settling in Golden for high school in the late 80s and later moving to Denver for college at Metro and The Art Institute of Colorado, is another artist whose work has inspired Myra and Ossie. Cori previously worked in non-art jobs before pursuing her passion for art, which she now shares with others through her work as an art teacher at a local elementary school.
As they continue to explore their own journeys, Myra and Ossie are grateful for the support of artists like R. Alan Brooks and Cori Redford, who have shown them that anything is possible when you follow your dreams.
