Man caught on camera vandalizing gaming machines with axe at Hialeah business – NBC 6 South Florida

A man was caught on camera smashing gaming machines at a café in Hialeah and fled with cash. Otniel Rodriguez, 40, has been charged with burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief in connection with the incident.

Rodriguez entered the Rainbow Café wearing a disguise and proceeded to smash gaming machines with an axe. Despite attempts by another individual to stop him, Rodriguez continued to cause damage. Officials reported that he destroyed three gaming machines and stole $7,000 in cash during the incident.

This is not the first time Rodriguez has been involved in crimes related to gaming machines. He was also accused of a similar offense at a Hialeah gas station on February 29th. The owners of the Rainbow Café expressed appreciation for the swift response and arrest made by the Hialeah police department. Rodriguez appeared before a Miami-Dade bond court judge on Wednesday, where he remained in custody. No information on his attorney was available at the time.

The incident highlights the importance of businesses being vigilant when it comes to security and monitoring of premises to prevent such incidents from occurring. The arrest of Rodriguez is a reminder of the importance of law enforcement in maintaining public safety and protecting businesses in the community.
