This year, Yelp honored Small Business Month in May by releasing its annual Top 100 Local Businesses list. Among the top businesses listed were three Georgia-based companies: Apna Garage in Decatur, FitWit also located in Decatur, and Empanadas & More in Valdosta.
Apna Garage’s owner, Jatin “Jay” Desai, was praised for his friendly demeanor and punctuality according to customer reviews. The automotive business ranked No. 1 in its category. FitWit, owned by Josh Guerrieri, was ranked No. 3 in the fitness category due to its caring trainers and sense of community among its members. Lastly, Alberto Sanchez’s family-run restaurant Empanadas & More made it to the list at No. 3 in the food category thanks to its delicious empanadas that are worth driving long distances for.
Yelp selects the top 10 local businesses annually across ten different categories based on customer reviews. To be considered a local business by Yelp’s standards, these businesses must be independently owned and operated. The ranking is determined by various factors including quality of service, overall atmosphere and price value among other things
