Review: Hyundai Kona Road Trip – Pros and Cons.

Recently, a close friend of mine reached out to me seeking advice on a safe yet not overly large car for his teenage sons. Simultaneously, I have been considering what type of vehicle would be appropriate for my daughter as she prepares to head off to college. In search of answers, I decided to drive a Hyundai Kona from Silicon Valley to Santa Barbara to see if this car met the criteria.

As we drove through the winding roads between Silicon Valley and Santa Barbara, I couldn’t help but think about my own daughter’s impending departure for college and wonder what kind of vehicle she should be driving as an adult. My friend’s concern for safety and desire for a car that wasn’t too large or heavy were also top priorities for me when it came to choosing a vehicle.

During our trip in the 2024 Hyundai Kona, I found that this car met all our requirements. It was safe, not too large, and suitable for both teenage drivers and college-bound young adults. Here are some key takeaways from our experience with the Hyundai Kona:

Firstly, the car handled well on the road and was easy to maneuver through tight spaces like city streets or parking lots. The interior was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of legroom even for tall passengers like myself. The seats were supportive and offered good lumbar support, making long drives more comfortable than expected. The infotainment system was intuitive and easy to use, providing access to music, navigation, and other features at your fingertips.

However, there were some areas where the Hyundai Kona fell short. For instance, while it handled well on paved roads, we noticed some issues with handling on gravel or uneven terrain. Additionally, while the car had ample cargo space in the backseat area, it lacked storage space up front near the driver’s seat that could have been more convenient for storing items like purses or water bottles during long trips.

Overall though, I felt confident that this would be a great option for anyone looking for a safe yet practical vehicle suitable for teenage drivers or college-bound young adults.

In conclusion, after driving the 2024 Hyundai Kona from Silicon Valley to Santa Barbara and considering my friend’s concerns regarding safety and size of his teens’ vehicles as well as my own daughter’s upcoming departure for college; I can say that this car is perfect in terms of its balance between being safe not too big which will minimize impact on others in case of an accident while still being suitable enough for teenage drivers or young adults going off to college
